Discussing Questions And Answers About Debt Help And Beyond

Laura asks…

How do I tell my husband how we are really in debt? I let it get beyond our means.?

I am the mother of a now 8 year old beautiful little girl. When my daughter was 16 months old she became very sick. Doctors thought it was the flu, however a few days later we ended up @ the hospital because she was unresponsive. She was in a diabetic coma. Well needless to say this kept me a stay at home mom taking great care of my daughter. My husband is the love of my life. He is a fire fighter full time and on his days off he works for a lanndscaping company. For the last 16 years he also pays 200.oo dollars a week for child support. His daughter turns 18 next yeear and has aready pursued her career as a cosmotolgist with a trade school. hwave done day care out of my house to help pay for my daughter’s education and to help out with the bills, in the last 6 yrs. we have accumulated 25,000.00 in credit card debt. I never have used it for extravagances, just to use in home emergancies..and the oil and cost of living expenses.. My husbannd does not know how bad it is, because I am afraid of being blamed for everything.. I am the only one out of my family who managesmy daughter’s diabete’s, so I am at a loss for ….I don’t know… I don’t want to declare bankruptacy, that is not an option… we have never been late on our mortgage payment. we love our home. I am making myself so sick over this that it has effected my health, I vomit all the time due to stress.. I don’t want my daughter to wittness this..What can I do? I was involved w/ a debt settlement program, which made it worse…..

Stan answers:

I don’t think your husband has ever put out a fire this big before. You might want to tell him before the fire spreads wider. From now on, let him handle everything. I can’t see him spreading the fire any worse.

Carol asks…

what other than the debt ceiling is holding up the budget?

the congress has already agreed to raise the debt ceiling if they can lower spending to help to be able to not have this again next year? why is the media and even the people on here so fixated on the debt ceiling that they do not look beyond that to see what the real issues are?
david it is because they spent money we do not have and cannot come up with. get the picture here momma and daddy do not have the money for new toys for you.

Stan answers:

The debt ceiling has very little to do with the budget. It has a great deal to do with the government being able to pay it’s bills. Over 40 cents of every dollar the government spends right now is debt.

Betty asks…

Considering the ALMIGHTY $ is becoming………?

extinct, (.60) on the dollar right now. Does it make since (cents)
for the President Of the United States to say that, for this tax year that taxpayers will recieve an extra amount of return($800.00 or so), so they can spend it at the stores to help with the oncoming/already recession that he contributed to?

If your debt has skyrockted beyond your control, and you get some x-tra money to buy items you don’t need, and your money value is declining, how is this suppose to help you (the economy) out of debt?
Is this still some more double talking/contradictory statement making/talking out the side of his neck/speaking with a forked tongued dialogue. Is this suppose to be for those people that will say, “Oh he left office on a good note by giving us extra money for our tax period.” WHERE did this extra money come from, when we are in a $150 billion debt?
pow*******

Stan answers:

Well.. The way you spend the money is entirely up to you.
What I think would be great is if every American got out of his/her own personal debt. Then the loan sharks will not multiply like rats, and the economy will get a boost… Really.
Think about it… Darn! I feel like I am preaching the Utopia book all over again.
As far as what Bush does these days… I think he’s sorting it out and making sure he delivers what he promised. He delivered so much stuff that he didn’t have to, but our beloved Bill left a mess for him to clear up just as well.
So it’s like, you make the best with what you’ve got.
Frankly, we’ve developed a very critical eye, but if we were to do that job… I don’t know how many people will do better, given the circumstances.
And with that said…. I think the problem with our presidents nowadays is that we’re choosing them out of the ‘elite’ people of the country. What’s wrong with another commoner to get up there and set the record straight? I think he/she will have a fresh approach and a different perspective. That is, if the bigwigs will not corrupt him/her by the end of the race.
On that same note… If you use the extra cash to cover some of your personal debt, it doesn’t matter what the president does, does it?
And c’mon, 10 percent is good enough for God, why not for the government? What we need to do is limit the federal govt. Control not allow it to penetrate all aspects of our life. If you ever had to deal with any govt. Agency, you know what I mean. Who wants more of that??
Centralyzed everything…. That’s what socialists do, and that’s a sure way to dictatorship. I happen to know more about the communism than the Average American. Been there.

William asks…

If you’re making payments on a debt, can the debt still affect your credit negatively?

For reasons beyond my control, I’ve got a medical debt of $20,000, and as a student, no way of paying the lump sum (and no help from family is available since we are all below the poverty line in terms of income). If I start to make monthly payments on this debt, will it still negatively affect my credit?

Stan answers:

3credscores.xp3.biz – use this service to predict how your credit score would change in future for various procedures of these payments.

Charles asks…

When you have a business proposal but no money what to do?

I need a loan but have poor credit, I need funding but don’t know where to go, I live on my own and I want to save money fast to move to Georgia from New Jersey and the only way to do that is to stop paying on existing bills and then that will put me in further debt so my hands are beyond tied. No one wants to help me out on my business adventure and I really want to get this started as of Jan. 2009 any ideas.

Stan answers:

Please be careful about taking a loan out from a non bank. Why not try for a grant?

UK telephone numbers start with +44 so be careful with some of the answers you have been given.
