Restaurant falling apart. What should be done?

My Mother has ventured in starting her own personal business. Reason being that she was 49 at the time and she wasn’t able to continue at her job (house cleaning).

She was always complaining that she was tired so she decided to open something that it would be hers and that she would be able to make a profit out of it.

That’s where the problems started. My brother (19 years old) and I (20 years old) was sucked into it. We opened up 6 months ago after 1 year and a half of corrupted inspections done by another city (inspectors from our city got fired).

My Mother had no idea on how to manage money, inventory, employees, etc and in addition to that, the inspections that took 1 year and 7 months (with about 5 months of construction included and later just adjustments) had drained all of her money. So we lost much money with rent (of the location), equipment, electricity bills and water bills. Trying to save some money, we didn’t do much advertising and the situation started to tighten up.

Today, we are so much in debt that our house mortgage has not been paid, our electricity (from our house) has been cut, and we are about to lose our vehicles for lack of payment, and lose whatever they can take from us.

I have no idea on how to help her and this situation has only made me frustrated; much because I despise restaurants and I can’t stand getting up everyday to come work here.

I have stopped going to college for financial reasons and because she needs me here. The workers we have, besides my brother, mom, and I, were two cooks and a another helper. One cook quit because we don’t have money to pay him.

I really don’t know what to do. We’ve tried consulting some people but no luck. Lawyers want a ridiculous amount of money for 2 hours of their time. And we are desperate.

Please! Please give us some guidance as to what should be done first and what should we do thereafter. Banks? Lawyers? Financial Counselors? What should we be looking for? Who should we be after? What can we do?

P.S. We have tried loans and were rejected.

I’m 23 American didn’t finish high school ran away from home when I was 17 cause of bad family problems moved to ny with high hopes ended up living in a house growing pot for some ells for three years and always wanted to be a business man work at moorage company and met lots of successful people during those day but my job as a mortgage loan officer helper ended didn’t real get et think cause of my age I missed my family and woke up one day to realize that I can’t leave like this and moved back home to Florida come to realize family problems still exist finally after staying with them I got a good job make 1000 to 2000 a week and I was successfully legal and doing great then I open my own company and found out it’s all a scam broke my heart shattered my dreams lost money cause I didn’t real now what I was doing and trusted and believed people that deceived me now I owe 10,000 in back taxes a didn’t have a driver license cause in ny I got tickets and couldn’t pay for them and at the time cared less a still drove any ways and I stop when I moved back to Florida to try and change my life and thought a license would only coast me money I could always get rides from people it would cost less and I did I owe about 5000 in credit cards from earlier years now the economy is not the best I guess so I don’t know how or what to do I can drive have no license car any commute is so long I’m mislabel went I get their cause I don’t know anybody to give me a ride anymore and it seems that a lot of people are using drugs to I cannot be around then cause I will use them it’s hard to make friends cause of drug user vary few are straight as a arrow like me now I don’t drink, or anything my girl friend is my first one in my whole life I always wanted to be solvent till marriage and never had a really girl friend till just recently she is in collage no drugs and smart and I love her people always take advantage of me I guess I don’t see it coming I’m vary gullible and I don’t want to be I want respect and good friend im23 now and in debt 15000 and no license it about 3000 for that I made mistakes in life and learned and come a long way now I don’t even feel like liven sometimes cause of how mist up my life has become I have now felony thank god and found out that the pot growing house in ny recently got used after the owner was murdered good thing I came back I’m successful but have allot of issues but I’m 23 icon still fix it but living is humiliating and hurts average job is 300 a week and it seems like there is not a naught time in the day to take care of living organized at home and commuting to work I have now fun and wont for 10 years making 300 a week I want to get married to my girlfriend own a house and biasness and be a hero I believe in god and have been very lucky but now I’m paying the price from not being responsible I grow up in a verbal abusive home parents’ divorce and constantly moving and never got to go to prom at school our date so I was alone for long time and got used to it I been to so money schools and even had shingles at age 12 dynast by a doctor cause of my stress and finally I have my stuff to gather but if I don’t think of something that will change my life for good I’m doomed and I now it and it kills me in side I need a good job I’m so intelligent and have stronger work ethic but there is now more light that make sense at the end of my tunnel that is ethically and morally respected and correct and I cant even keep friends they rub how good their life is in my face it sucks there is so much more I can say but I’m asking for wisdom how do I become somebody when I’m already defeated in every aspect of my life I’m 23 .P.S spend time with your kids and keep them on a positive informant and teach them wisdom and religion above all ells and watch what they here and see if you’re a parent of younger I was above average and you would never guess that this is the truth if you meet me my life today seem to be smoking mirrors I was at the top and life was assume now I don’t even want to get out of bed let alone wake up I love my girl friend thow

What you think about this 13 years-old boy’s life?

There is a boy who lives in Columbus, Georgia. I am going to describe the life of this boy first.

-13 years old
-all A’s since 4th grade
-in the math team, gifted program, and a peer helper.
-lots of friends
-not physically or mentally disabled.
-has a xbox 360, computer, and a DS
-top student in social studies class last year and this year.
-parents NOT in debt

Unto this point, you can see that this kid is not one of those who do drugs and fails in school. In fact, he is above the average level (in education) of americans.

Now this is the key, you would think that this kid have a pretty decent, or at least average, life, right? Well, here is the rest of it…

-has a father, who is chinese, who thinks that the parents is always right and the child has not rights AT ALL in the house.
-has to run 3 and a half miles 5 DAYS A WEEK ( and that 3 and a half miles feels like about 4 and a half miles because of all the uphills and stuff. also, he don’t care how much his child’s leg hurt or anything.)
-get to only play ONE HOUR on fridays, saturdays, and sundays, and the rest of the week he can not do ANYTHING, including video games, computer games, and watching TV, only studying and reading books and sometimes checking emails.
-MUST go to bed before 10:30pm on weekdays and 11:00pm on weekends, except for VERY SPECIAL occasions (like new year and stuff)

IMPORTANT: i mean a boy in america and has around the same “background” as this boy, not some kid in africa or the ones that live under a bridge, i mean someone who has a family and a decent house and goes to school or something close to that.
ALSO: i doesn’t matter if this boy is real to you or not, just reply to this.

Now, for some people, this question might sound familiar to you because i have posted this before. But some people did not get the point of me posting this. My actual question is this:

With all his good grades and achievements and excercise and all the other stuff he has accomplished, doesn’t this boy deserve a little bit more than just ONE hour of video games per week and NOTHING else on the weekdays??

Should I go to University?

Now I know none of you can fully answer this for me, but really I just need some advice. Well firstly, I’d love to got to University. So would my parents but they seem to think that unless I fully know what I want to do and then if that job/career needs a degree then I can go. So really, what they’re saying is “you cant go there for the sake of getting a degree” The career path I choose needs to require uni otherwise there’s no point in going and getting into a whole load of debt and then realising I still don’t know what I want to do with my life. It’s quite annoying really because I’m always taking career tests and personality quizzes and they just seem to come out with complete rubbish about how my dream career would be an “RAF assistant chef” or a “local council helper“… They both sound like ****! I’m not really sure what type of career would suit me, but I’d like to see myself in about 15-20 years time working in London and earning around 50-60k at least. Obviously to get working in London with a decent salary would probably require a degree of some sort, but I just don’t know what. I know that getting a degree in something like Media would be pointless, and so it leaves me with the more “academic” degrees of business, accounting, finance e.t.c. I’m currently in my first year of college doing my A levels studying Business, Law and Sociology… and I’m probably expected to get B’s.

So yeah, did you know what you wanted to do career wise when going to Uni or did you just go for the sake of getting a degree? Also, would you say it’s worthwile

Bankruptcy – debts in UK but living in Spain?

I have been trying to clear a huge debt for over 10 years but it has been impossible. I have to finally admit that I´ve not been great at making financial decisions though I haven´t been reckless and the advice from my bank has frankly not helped. My bank consolidated my credit card debt sometime ago with a loan, which they said i had to have covered by insurance. They then gave me another credit card with the loan. Subsequently they gave me a 4,000 GBP overdraft and then an unsecured loan of 37kGBP. I also have two credit cards. I even worked abroad to try and make more money in the banking sector to try and pay off the debt but then lost that job. I have since moved to Spain where I am earning hardly anything but I am happy. I don´t want to move back to England and I can´t pay my debts. Can I file for bankruptcy in the UK if I am working and living in Spain? I don´t want to start off life here with a bad credit history but am willing to accept that it will be bad in the UK.
I have no assets or pension.

what’s the cheapest way to declare bankruptcy in the UK?

i have a client who has large debts – to the extent that a voluntary agreement with creditors seems unlikely to make sense – i’ve googled the problem but am only coming up with ‘free advice‘ from companies who want to sell their services – voluntary agreements, negotiations etc.

what i need to know is whether you can declare yourself bankrupt and what’s the cheapst way of doing it? i’m a counsellor and don’t have the financial expertise to answer this and it sounds lame, in my ears, to say – go see the CAB…any knowledgeable help out there?

Please your help would be really appreciated. I live in the UK, I have debt abroad Spain quite a lot. I want to contact the bank and reclaim agency but am horrified if they ask me undeliverable terms, and by contacting them they find out where I am.
I would like to seek legal advice, but i cant seem to find anything online, I keep finding “debt in the UK and leaving abroad” however i am the other way round!
What rights do the spanish banks have in the UK and can they come get me?

How different is the Experian Credit Score from your actually FICO?

Last year I did my annual free credit score, which takes your score from all 3 bureaus.. and did one of those free 30 day trials to get my credit score like 6 months ago and it was 517. I havent made any payments to my only negative account, but now my score is like 624 on a free experian one i did today. how different are the two scores?

Last year i defaulted on my credit card and a couple of contract phones due to losing my job, i contacted the company and ended up in a little debt with them, which now i have another very secure job i am paying off monthly.
How long do these defaults stay on my report for? i have been refused for a new contract phone on a different network.

In October 2008, I paid $1494 to join a debt free program call Real Talk Network sponsored by Dave Burke. After 3 sessions, I was told they had done everything possible to reduce my debt, which wasn’t much. I was told I needed more income and to get a job to help pay off my debt. Obviously, I all ready knew that a job would help but who can get a job with the recession? Plus, I’m almost 60 years old.

Since about January 2009 to the present, I have contacted the Corporate Office in Westminster, Colorado by phone many times, have sent certified letters and a demand letter requesting a refund with no results. They even changed the requirements for a refund which is not even in my contract. They made it sound so easy to received a refund if you ended up not being a suitable candidate for the program. What a scam? I feel “somewhat stupid” but then when one is in debt, we “hope” for a solution. I’m not quiting because $1497 is a lot of money for me right now. I live in California and I’m not quite sure what to do at this point but would love to hear from you, if you experienced the same with this corporation. Please write, Joy

Help… I need debt advice.?

I left town. I left a lot of things behind. Including bills. I have no idea how to find out what I owe or who I owe it to. I have received two phone calls from a debt collector. I owe 2,000 that I know of but I know there must be more. How do I find out an exact amount? I have no job and no money. I have a kid on the way and I have never been in this situation before. Who to turn to for debt advice?

My wife and I have approx $45k in unsecured debt and second mortgage already. We’re paycheck to paycheck paying min payments now and its pretty uncomfortable.

I don’t want to shirk my responsibilities but we’re in a rut, treading water and not going anywhere. What type of professional should I trust? I’d like to sit down face to face with somebody. My research in different debt consolidation services scares me as does the thought of bankruptcy but for all I know, those are viable choices but I’d really like to talk to a neutral party to help me decide what to do.

A CFP would be more investment oriented right? Are there any government sponsored organizations statewide that are good?

We have a budget already and have cut down monthly expenses (tv, phone etc)to a minimum, living modestly. We analized a debt repayment plan but based on our surplus cash were looking at 4-5 years to get out by using the debt snowball thing. That is also assuming no financial hardships popping up.

My mom didnt want to help pay for my schooling; she makes a little less than 100k a year, which should be enough to help pay for some of my schooling. Each year, I receive about 15K in financial aid and then plus the cost of living, so each year I have about 20k in loans ( At the end of my sophomore year, I had about 41k in student loans not including the interest) I’m an Accounting Major, I have a 2.3 GPA. Can you make a payment/deposit for an account at one credit union at another credit union?

I thought someone told me a few years back that if you have an account at a credit union and you do not have a branch near you, that you can go to another credit union and make a payment/deposit/etc.

Do you know if this is true? I have a car loan thru a credit union a few hundred miles away (in the same state) and wondered if I could take the payment to another credit union closer to me since it’s due Monday and I’ve been remiss.

Can a credit union repossess both car loans if only one is in default? OREGON?

I am the cosigner on my ex husband’s loan (UGH!) and he is in default. My car loan is financed through the same bank. The vehicles were purchased at separate times and through separate dealerships. how can i reprogram or reformat my nokia 7610 phone?what software do i need?please help me..THANKS!?

i think i have a virus on my Nokia7610.. it continuesly sends MMS and SMS even without credits on it and when i load up suddenly it just pops and sends a lot of messages on all the numbers on my contacts..and it will loose all the credits i loaded up.. i would need to reprogram my phone.. please help me. where can i find a software or download it without going to a cellphone shop to repair it.. i have no time to go to a shop to repair it..i have my USB thing here but i dont have a software.. PC suite wont help me it doesnt give me an option to program it..it is jus update software but it wont help at all.. it says i have the latest version so it wont reprogram my cp..

Three Network mobile phone theft repair centre. Why cant they just give me back my phone?

I booked my k660i for repair. the day(wednesday 18feb09) it was being collected, i was not at home and instead of my k660i, my unlocked N73 was sent(with a 3 simcard in it).
I quickly alerted 3 about this and they said they would send the phone by friday 20feb 09.
Nothing came on friday. I called and the agent on the phone said it in the repair but they would dispatch it for delivery. Saturday I called and talked to another agent who took my case and said he would get back to me in 3days, meaning on tuesday.
it was me who kept calling them. then i called on monday, they said its being investigated. it takes 3days. They didnt even contact to tell me they lost my phone, bastards!
then that saturday agent called on wednesday saying they cant do anyfing unless i provide the IMEI number. I dont have the IMEI number since I bought it on ebay and I already asked the seller and he doesnt have it.
Ok..i appreciate the fact that they wont find a nokia n73 out of mayb a million n73 coming at their one single repair centre(only if they have 1 million customers in one region, LOL), and it would be difficult to find a phone without a IMEI number.
OK, BUT my n73 had a sim card in it. A sim card has a UNIQUE number which should thus prove that out of those so called one million N73, my N73 is present as well.
on top of that, its unlocked with O2 software still embedded in it.
These details do provide them with some sense and logic to understand that my N73 is there in the repair centre.
Why cant they just grab it and give it to me?
I paid £65 for that phone and they are giving £20 credit only!
WTF?
I want my phone, not the stupid £20 credit!
The parcel company has a consignment number which shows that the phone was sent to the repair centre and IT IS WITH THREE.
It is a case of theft, I have sent an item with a reference + my sim, the item is delivered, they have it and now they claim to have lost it and wont give it to me unless i give the IMEI, ridiculous!

I moved from Delaware where I was employed in the credit card industry in fraud prevention and authorizations to Huntsville, Alabama last year. I haven’t found a job that suits me because my main skill set is in the banking industry and Huntsville doesn’t have many opportunities at all in that industry. My husband is a software engineer so we moved down for his career. I’m thinking about becoming a credit counselor for the following reasons.

I’m a walking encyclopedia of lending regulations, practices and credit reporting practices. Basically, I know the industry inside and out and I still keep up with changes in the banking industry on a regular basis.

When I worked authorizations I’d often encounter people who were totally maxed out on multiple accounts, had credit scores in the toilet, yet would call wanting permission to go over the limit on their card to buy some ridiculously expensive item. We were technically supposed to approve those requests but I felt so bad that I was enabling the customer to continue self destructive behavior I would often decline these requests and gently try to make the customer aware of what they were doing. These were people who were really in bad; not customers who were paying on time and in relatively good standing. My general rule was if someone is maxed out on more than one card, is barely making minimums, has a credit score under 600 and recent or chronic delinquency on any account I would say no unless it was a dire emergency like a car repair or a medical bill. It was basically what I could squeak by with doing. One time I had a rather long conversation with a woman DEEP in debt who actually told me I would make a good credit counselor.

I was thinking about that recently and it sounds like a fulfilling career. I know that debt is an addiction for some people so I felt like I was being forced to feed people’s addictions when I worked in the industry. It’s like giving scotch to chronic alcoholic, no good can come of it.

I’m also very good at managing my own finances. My husband and I are living on one income as a couple in our early 20′s with student loan debt yet we do manage our expenses well enough to easily afford our own home. We’ve taken excellent care of our credit to qualify for good interest rates on all of our debt. Ironically our mortgage has the highest interest rate at 6.25% fixed; our consumer revolving debt rates are 5.5% or lower.

I grew up low income and my parents avoided non-mortgage debt like the plague! I think I could set a good example for clients as a credit counselor; plus I’m incredibly nice but not afraid to tell it like it is.

Does this seem like a good basis for a potential credit counselor?

Who made Viruses, Trojans, Malware, Spyware, Adware, and other malicious software?

I don’t see much of a point except for stealing credit card information and whatnot, but even so, it seems that viruses are more bent towards destroying a computer or taking over it’s operating system, just sitting there idle, laughing at your attempts to get rid of it, and by the time you do, the damages are so great, it takes day, or weeks to fix it, or it’s damaged beyond repair, without even stealing your credit-card information unless you typed it in recently. I kind of researched and it seems that they made viruses just “For kicks” and laughs, but what laughs can you get out of it? A bunch of trolls if you ask me. Even back then, the viruses were near harmless, but then they grew more and more malicious. Why, may I ask, were Viruses invented besides for stealing Credit Card information and for a “Cheap Laugh at another’s suffering”?
